EMC has a big IT environment of its own - with all of the same issues faced by our customers and all of the same constraints: money, time, talent, energy consumption, business demands and more.
EMC is also fortunate enough to have some very smart, forward looking and thoughtful IT executives who are leading the way for our own IT evolution and leading our customers by example.
They have done a terrific job taking advantage of EMC technology and ideas to reduce energy consumption and increase IT efficiency with an eye on sustainability too.
A few of them seem quite comfortable in front of a camera too. So, they have been making and posting videos about their journey. The idea is to let our customers in on what we ourselves are experiencing as we "drink our own champagne."
I should have been doing this since they started so now I post the videos here in reverse order with the most recent first. You can go to the end if you want them in sequence or see them all posted here.
I emphasize that I am the one who is backwards and not EMC IT.
The most recent video is Chris Murphy, Director of International IT Operations. Listen for the pleasant trace of an Irish brogue as Chris describes the future of our desktop environment, our VDI strategy and all of the challenges that go with.
The next discussion is around Server Virtualization and it comes in two parts.
Part One is Paul Divittorio discussing the EMC strategy for aggressive server virtualization - which is expected to save $10M over five years.
Part two is Adam Wagner, an EMC Systems Architect discussing the his insight into implementation challenges faced in development of new best practices for a highly virtualized environment.
And finally, the intro that kicked it off from Sanjay Mirchandani, EMC's Sr. Vice President and CIO. Sanjay regularly speaks to our customers and analysts as well as CIO peers to share perspective on common challenges. In turn he launched this series to provide a unique inside view of our virtualization and Cloud journey from servers to storage to desktop to our full future in the Private Cloud.
So, as I mentioned at the start of this post, you can see more links and find future videos at this site. I'll also be more conscientious about posting the latest here as they arrive.
Enjoy.
